Range & Status
Characteristically boring into rock and clinker, with just the arms projecting; also found in rock crevices. It is a circumpolar cold water species which is most conspicuous and abundant in northern waters and which reaches its southern limit in the English Channel, with occasional specimens off the south Cornish coast in up to 100m depth.
