Range & Status

In the post-1960 period recorded from only three southern counties: Cornwall, Devon and the Isle of Wight.

Regional Distribution

Recorded only from Erisey on The Lizard in 1981.

Habitat & Ecology

Grassy terrain in warm localities with ample flowers to attract aculeate Hymenoptera.

Ecology not known but it is presumed to parasitise bees. Adults can be seen at flowers such as Dandelion Taraxacum officinale agg. in spring and early summer.

Threats

Further loss or mismanagement of old flowery grassland.

Recorded on the Lizard National Nature Reserve.
