Octopus vulgaris - Common Octopus

Range & Status

A species which reaches its north-eastern limit in south-western Britain and the English Channel. Generally only a few specimens are recorded each year, mainly from crab-pots, but occasionally it can be quite numerous. It is probably more common on the south coastline of Cornwall than elsewhere in southern Britain.
