Range & Status

Diptera: Cecidomyiidae; local.

Regional Distribution

Five records, Lizard: SW71 at Trelan and Lizard National Nature Reserve in 1978; SW61 at Higher Predannack Cliff in 1974, near Kynance Cove in 2001; Gear SW75 in 2002.

Habitat & Ecology

Associated species: Sneezewort Achillea ptarmica ; shoot tip is galled, long shoots may arise from bud, each chamber containing a white larva.

Threats

Loss of heathland habitat by overgrazing and fire.

Conservation

Most sites on The Lizard are within the National Nature Reserve or on land owned by the National Trust.
