Range & Status

Alien, although established in Britain for centuries and flourishing in several urban localities again after severe national decline since the 1940s.

Regional Distribution

Recently recorded in one site in VC2, one on the Isles of Scilly and one in west Cornwall.

Habitat & Ecology

Found in heated buildings and ferment-warmed rubbish tips, and temporarily in fields and hedges in hot summers. May escape from pet centres.

Threats

Pest control measures.

Conservation

None known.
