Cornish Red Data (2009)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Cornish Red Data Book (2009). The map on this web page depicts the organisms distribution and shows the records made pre-2000 and those made since.

Lycopodiella inundata - Marsh Clubmoss

Range & Status

Native. European Boreo-temperate plant; also in eastern Asia and North America.

Scattered across western Britain with a stronghold in the New Forest.

Regional Distribution

Always extremely rare in Cornwall and only extant at one site, Retire Common (SX06), in mid Cornwall.

Habitat & Ecology

Wet bare peaty areas of valley bog.

Threats

Lack of, or inappropriate management. The Retire Common site has been grazed by

cattle since 2005 and it is hoped that the creation of open areas will be colonised by Marsh Clubmoss.
