Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Urtica urens - Small Nettle

Small Nettle is infrequent in West Cornwall, very rare in East Cornwall and common on the Isles of Scilly. It can occur in large numbers in horticultural fields, especially those between Penzance and Hayle and may appear wherever soil has been disturbed, such as on a newly built Cornish Hedge in Camborne (SW64K, 1998, C.N.French) or amongst the Hayle Towans (SW53U, 1994, C.N.French).
