Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Agrostis vinealis - Brown Bent

Much under-recorded, Brown Bent is, at present, known only from a limited number of sites, such as Burngullow Common (SW95X, 1998, M.Atkinson), Hensbarrow Downs (SW95Z, 1997, I.J.Bennallick), Hawke's Wood (SW97V, 1998, I.J.Bennallick), Casehill Downs (SX17J, 1997, M.Atkinson), Plymswood (SX29J, 1998, I.J.Bennallick) and Launceston (SX39G, 1998, M.Tempest). It grows on sandy or peaty soils on heaths or moors and in dry grassland, but is absent on the Isles of Scilly.
