Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Tsuga heterophylla - Western Hemlock-spruce

Like Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock-spruce is frequently seen in conifer plantations and most records are of planted trees, as on the Scorrier estate (SW74B, 1982, L.J.Margetts) and Watergate Wood (SX37M, 1989, R.J.Murphy). It has also been recorded as self-sown at Skimmel Bridge (SW43F, 1994, F.Potts), Tehidy Woods (SW64L, 1993, D.T.Holyoak), St. Clement's Wood (SW84J, 1993, D.T.Holyoak) and Greenscoombe Wood (SX37W, 1997, M.Atkinson).
