The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Eriophorum vaginatum - Hare's-tail Cottongrass

A species of unshaded,wet, highly acidic ground on moist, peaty moorland, which is most frequent in ombrogenous mires. It also occurs in soligenous mires and by, or within, shallow moorland pools. It is found between altitudes of 200m and 500m.
