Flora of Cornwall (1999)

The descriptive text, below the map, is from the Flora of Cornwall (1999), which was a Tetrad Atlas (the maps had 2km square dots or Tetrads). The map on this web page depicts the plant's distribution at the 1km square scale and shows the records made pre-2000 which were used in the 1999 Flora and those made since.

Centaurium pulchellum - Lesser Centaury

Lesser Centaury is rather infrequent and scattered. It tends to be found in damp situations such as those in small depressions in dune grasslands. Good examples of this can be found at Penhale Sands (SW75T). Elsewhere it occurs in some coastal grasslands, in quarries, on waste ground and on mineralised soil as at Cligga Head (SW75L). On the Lizard it is seen along the heathland tracks (SW61). It is absent from the Isles of Scilly.
